Thoughts After One Week of (Bed)Rest
Bonjour!
After one week of sitting on my "arse" I thought I would share with you some of my thoughts, emotions and experiences from the past week. My life has been turned upside down and mostly stopped by the break!
Here it goes... I don't often get super personal on my business blog so I hope you enjoy!
- It really sucks having a broken bone
- Thank goodness for friends and family
- Life can be so overwhelming at times
- I try to keep in mind this situation is just temporary
- My butt is tired of sitting down
- Sleeping is great, except when my foot throbs in the middle of the night or I'm getting jabbed in the ribs from our little one
- Now I know why I have so many PJ's... I've been living in them the past week
- My mother in law is a brilliant doctor and I appreciate all her words of wisdom this past week
- Taking a bath is the main event of my day and takes so much effort & energy
- Timing is everything! The fall could have been much worse
- Our baby is just fine; growing and getting stronger every day
- There is so much to do in 9 weeks, my hubby and I are both very overwhelmed
- I'm so thankful my parents are in town
- Frozen peas work great for icing my foot. They mold better than the average ice pack
- A broken bone is nothing like a sprain, twist or tear. It takes much longer to heal
- Everything happens for a reason
- I love frozen yogurt!
- There are not enough positions to sit in... I'm worried my butt will be totally flattened by the time I am up and walking around again
- I bought a fun, comfy "mumu" in Hawai'i back in March. I knew at some point I would wear it around the house when my belly got big enough but I didn't think it would be because of being on bed rest
- McDonald's chocolate shakes are delicious
- My husband is doing all that he can to help out and keep his insane schedule going
- I am thankful for all of our friends, and their support, all over the world!
Shout out to Germany, France, the UK, Canada and those of you scattered around the US.
- I'm really not that much of a TV person although this week starts quite a few new seasons for shows I enjoy (Gossip Girl, Biggest Loser)
- I miss driving
- Don't ever forget how easy it is for you to get out and drive somewhere. I'm unable to drive for at least 2 months. Sometimes I feel like I'm back to my pre-16 life except I'm much bigger thanks to baby
- I really hope and pray that I can walk by the time our little girl is born
- There is a good chance I will be laboring this child with my big boot on... that should be super fun
- I hope people continue to come and visit me since I am stuck at home
- I am starving right now. Wait, I just had lunch about an hour ago... hmmmm, what to eat?
- I want to thank my husband for the portable AC unit he surprised me with! It is a lifesaver
- How do I go get a pedicure? Do you think they will do just one foot?
I NEED a pedicure
- I can't believe it is football season (already!)
- We are thinking about changing OBGYNs. Huge undertaking but very important to us so that we have the experience we want
- I miss French pastries and treats
- I wish my hard working husband could take a long, deserved break for himself. Once his little girl gets here we are going to need him more than ever
- I'm still starving... so I'm off to make the trek on my crutches to the kitchen
- Oh yes, I miss shopping!
A bientot,
Kelli

I am thinking of you Kelli....it must be so frustrating right now. All I can suggest is read, read, read and watch as many films as you can because they are the two things that disappear once a baby arrives. Look after you, xv.

So sorry this happened! You've probably done this, but I suggest you go to the website of your local library, check the catalog for every book you ever wanted to read but never had the time, and then send DH (or someone with a card) to retrieve them. Another idea: this is a good chance to listen, really listen, to classical music. Maybe with a companion book like "Classical Music: Third Ear: The Essential Listening Companion" or something along that line? Also you can get CDs from your local library! (Can you tell I am a librarian!!?) So happy Baby Girl is well!

CL,
Thank you for the great suggestions! I was at the library the week before the fall and have a few books on hand. The problem is that I fall asleep, even if it is a great book!
I really enjoy classical music. I am by no means a music buff however my hubby and I attended a season at the symphony and it was delightful! I will have to pull out my CDs stashed too far back in the closet; the music would help me relax and from what I hear is good for the baby too!
Thanks,
Kelli

Oh dear - it's hard enough to be in the latter stage of pregnancy without everything that you are going through now! Best of luck. I have been enjoying your blog for a while, especially the details of your trip to Paris - thank heavens your accident didn't happen before your trip!!

Patricia,
Thank you for leaving a comment! I always enjoy hearing from readers I don't know are out there; it is a pleasure to meet you!
I'm so glad this didn't happen before or during my trip, that would have been worse! I really do believe in timing, so there is a reason why it happened and when it did.
I plan to post more on Paris in the coming weeks, I'm just still getting used to my bed rest/couch rest situation and hoping to get back to regular blogging next week.
Thanks,
Kelli

OMG Kelli! I'm so sorry to hear about your leg...wow...the timing is just so bad..but you know what, just like you said- everything happens for a reason, and who knows maybe it saved you from something bigger/worse that was gonna happen. Most importantly your baby girl is okay and we are all SO EXCITED for her arrival into our beautiful world

Dearest Kelli~
Yes! It really sucks having a broken bone!!! You'll list made me laugh...been there without your little girl in your belly, during this time friends and family mean SOOO MUCH!!! I WISH I lived a few blocks away to stop by and drop of some PATISRIES for your belly. Enjoy your quite time and you'll be back to normal before you know it. I'm just sooo glad to hear your little girl is OK, I have suffered too many broken bones in my short life, time seems to slow down during the healing process but will speed up once your are HEALED! I hope you a healthy & SPEEDY recovery!!!
