A Long-Awaited Dream Come True!

                                                      La Vie en Rose
We talk about it, ponder about what it must be like, daydream about calling this city home {be it even if only for a little while} and try to attain a bit of la vie francaise; then... live it, love it, experience it and strive to never forget it!

Magic, romance, history, art, culinary delights, shopping galore, fashion, fun, sultry summer nights and chilly, snow-filled November evenings, Christmas in the city, fresh baked baguettes, the best coffee ever, the sweetest friends, international knowledge, stretching life experiences, growing up and fast {9/11 experience abroad}, using a laundro-mat, living without an oven, riding only on public transportation, never getting behind the wheel, delighting in the bright evening view of the city all aglow, spending countless fêtes with precious friends and loved ones,

being proposed to under the Arc de Triomphe as the Eiffel Tower sparkled in the background, perusing les puces, swooping up some of the best candles in the world at Diptyque, falling in love with "new" things on a daily basis, loathing how certain other things seem not to "work" as well in France, climbing endless flights of stairs, mastering the art of wearing stilettos on ancient cobblestone streets, enjoying a lunch alone at a small bistro in a petite square in the Marais, wondering why does it have to take SO long to get the check, riding the metro through the chicest parts of the city and riding it as well through the doggy areas, meeting amazing people from around the world, forming lasting friendships with ex-pats... they know what life is like abroad, working at a world famous company that sits on a breathtaking, historical site about 30 minutes outside the city, along with a couple other jobs in different areas of the city that each gave me a great knowledge of all the arrondissements. I used to be a walking map of paris from the 2 years I spent working at a furnished rental apartment company. My last job in the city, prior to moving home, I had the pleasure of working with a wonderful lady who has now long been a fabulous friend! {I can't wait to see her and her beautiful daughter next Saturday.} I would take almost daily walks to La Poste and oh darn, I just had to pass the Hermès flagship store on rue du Fbg. St. Honoré! Don't doubt that I will be popping in for a splurge or two while I am there!

Many of you know that I lived 4 years in Paris. I met my hubby there, worked and lived out the Parisian daily grind and my dream of living abroad. Yes, I rode the stinky metro and the crowded RER, lived in a chambre de bonne for a while along with other very petite apartments, shopped for food at least 3 times a week, spent hours walking this wondrous city, had a very spiritual experience one rainy evening in the Notre-Dame and am thankful everyday for the life changing experience I had as a young-middle 20's American living in France.

Right after we got engaged under the Arc de Triomphe ~ Dec. 9, 2005

Finally, after 3.5 years of waiting, thinking about Paris everyday and talking about returning I am set to leave next Friday for a whole month! This is my last hurrah trip before becoming a maman. My dear husband knows how much I need to get away, relax, visit with old friends, shop for the baby and the nursery {Amen for Les Soldes!}, and just wander the streets of the city I love so much. I will be in Paris for about 2.5 weeks, Berlin for 5 days and the South of France for a week. A month seems like a long time however I know that it is going to fly by! I will enjoy eating all things French and give my little miss a taste of new culinary delights!

Me and our petit bébé can't wait to sink out teeth into the delicious, seasonal produce and products that will be found in abundance at the farmers markets. There is a marché bio close to the friend's house I am staying with in Paris... Yippie!!!

I will be staying with these lovely ladies in Paris

And this fun couple in Berlin

My soul longs to experience les champs de lavande in the South of France! I'm planning to spend the 1st week of August in the South, sipping lemonade, visiting brocantes, farmers markets and just enjoying the beauty around me.

Would anyone like to come along and join me for a randonée in the expansive Jardins de Versailles?
Nothing like a little lunch in beautiful surroundings and a bit of tragic history, fashion trend-setting and opulence to take us away!

I will be heading straight to Ladurée on Saturday when I land! I can't wait to dive into a plate filled with macarons and other delights! This is just what the Dr. ordered!!!

I will try to post a few more times prior to my flight that is VERY early next Friday morning. We are finishing up our bathroom renovation tomorrow {thank God!}, heading out for 4th of July and then next week I will be packing and wrapping up loose ends before saying au revoir to my hubby for a whole month!

Until next time...
Happy July! Joyeux Anniversaire to all my July Birthday readers!

WOW! It's a girl! I'm so happy for you, Kelli, and from the looks of you and your hubby she is going to be one knockout at that! I'm just thrilled that you're going back to your Paris, to Berlin, to all your haunts. Next time will be a whole new experience with your brand new bebe. Have a wonderful trip, I can't wait to see your pics!

Ahhh Kel, I am so excited and so incredibly jealous right now. Can you pack me in your suitcase?

So excited you are having a little girl. I have always imagined you two as the parents of a precious girl.

Enjoy every bit of Europe. Let's talk before you leave!

Hi! I'm a 28-year-old German and I'm pregnant (31 weeks), too! I'm living in the North of France (in Lille) but my partner and I are moving to Paris soon. So I'm very excited and I love your blog!

When are you moving to Paris? I hope that you are feeling well as you start to round out your last trimester.
Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl?

        Hi Kelli,

Thanks I'm fine. Finally we have got an apartment in the 13ème arrondisement and so we are moving in two weeks of time. It'll be a surprise whether it's a boy or girl. Have a good journey.
