Tips and Tidbits Related to Health and Longevity

The expression you hear in Southern California for June is “June gloom.” I do not look at it that way, even though some days the sun never comes out in the beach area, where I live. My June is never gloomy, as it is when I take time out to give my body a rest and a chance to become cleaner and healthier. Before every new season, I do a 21 day cleanse and have been fasting/cleansing since 2004, on a regular basis. I don't recommend anyone start off by trying to do it for this long. Start with 1 day a week and then progress from there. I am now in the midst of my cleanse and have one week left. You can check out my blog posts for my 21 day journey/cleanse here.
I encourage anyone who reads my guest blogs here at ARWS to send in their questions or topics they would like to see covered on my monthly post. Last month, I mentioned that I would tell you why salt isn't good for you to ever consume. Growing up we are given information that isn't always the correct or right one. Society/organizations tries to “push”the public to use/consume things that are really detrimental to our lives. In fact, they know that these aren't healthful, but they don't come from a “warm and fuzzy place.” There needs to be those of us (like me) who will tell you the truth and filter out what is hype and what is real. Salt is one of those things, we may have thought was o.k. to use, but it is not. When I was eating according to the macrobiotic lifestyle, we used sea salt, which is supposed to be better than the table or iodized variety. I now know that no kind of salt has any benefit to the body, in any way shape or form.
Here is the reason why (this information is so important for you to know, that I am including an article written by someone else on this topic)
Super Food Or Blood Burning Poison
by Roger Haeske
Did you know that there's a food or more accurately a condiment that's being marketed as a health food but it's actuality, it's a corrosive cellular poison?
In fact, it's so poisonous that if you consume just one ounce of it at a time, you will die an incredibly painful death. Yet this stuff is considered health food. And yet others consider it a human necessity and that is an absolute falsehood.
There have been certain American Indian cultures that didn't even know what this condiment was and never consumed it.
I know it's not something we need for health because I stopped consuming it on a regular basis over five years ago. The only problem is that I sometimes end up consuming it accidentally when I go out to raw food restaurants.
They mistakenly add this substance to virtually all of their recipes to make them taste better. Yet after I've eaten those meals, my blood burns. So do other parts of my body. When I have too much of this stuff, nothing works right the next day. It just makes me out of it and ruins my day. It's totally corrosive and destructive and yet these fools will try to tell you it's a health food because it's loaded with minerals. Would you consume arsenic just because it was loaded with minerals?
So here's the problem, many people know this is a bad substance, but they've been told that they need to consume some of it. As I said before we don't need to consume any of it whatsoever. At least not in the form that most people get it.
What other bad things does this substance do? Well it kills weeds and plants that come into contact with it. It also kills many kinds of bacteria. It's actually an antibiotic. This means anti-life.
Do you want to consume something that's anti-life?
It's also used as a preservative. It's a way to keep meat fresh in the absence of refrigeration. Do you want to eat preservatives? Not if you're health conscious you don't. It preserves because it kills.
Do you want to consume something that kills your cells?
There's another major drawback to this substance, when you consume it, it deadens your taste buds for two hours. You'll have a hard time tasting anything that's sweet, sour or bitter.
Eating this condiment regularly is what makes it hard for people to go raw. They simply can't appreciate the flavors in delicious fruits and vegetables because they've managed to deaden their taste buds with the over use of this caustic poison.
So have you guessed what this is yet?
In case you haven't its ordinary table salt (NaCl) or sodium chloride. You have zero need for salt. That's right, you don't need it at all to be healthy. You know already that it can cause high blood pressure. But you probably had no idea that it was actually ripping you up and burning you when you ate it.
You see, you can't feel the damage salt does to you if you eat it every day. Your body does the best it can to protect you from your indiscretions. But I can feel it when I eat it. And let me tell you, it hurts. It burns me up from the inside out.
It makes my blood boil. I can feel it because I hardly ever eat salt. So when I do my body is not prepared for it and I can feel the pain it causes soon after eating. I urge you to stop eating salt as soon as possible.
You won't believe how much better your health will be. You'll even become a better athlete. I think one of the reasons I can endure the heat so well is because I don't consume salt.
I also have a feeling that eating salt will prematurely age you. One thing is certain consuming salt makes your body more acidic. Yes sodium is an alkaline mineral but when you consume it as table salt it's actually acidifying or pH lowering.
According to Dave Klein the editor of Living Nutrition Magazine, he's found many of his health coaching clients won't heal until they stop consuming salt. This is even though the rest of their diet is really top notch and raw.
How can you expect to poison yourself to health? It ain't happenin.
So if you've gone 100% raw congratulations. That's a great achievement. But when are you going to give up salt? If you could only see and feel the actual damage you were doing to your body, you'd give it up in an instant.
I know plenty of people that don't consume salt anymore. Get rid of this idea that you need to consume it, that's just garbage or misinformation.
Forget the fancy Sea Salt, Himalayan Rock Salt or any other kind of salt. Regardless of how many minerals there are in it, it's still poison. It will still kill cells in your body.
We best get our salt from vegetables. The other kind is a burning and cell killing poison. The Chinese used to take one ounce of salt as a method of committing suicide.
I could go on and on about the dangers of table salt. Please don't fall for the sea salt scams. It's all a bunch of marketing nonsense.
I hope you got as much out of this article, as I have. Below, I continue with my own writing.
HEALTH TIP ~ JUNE 2009
Our bodies require minerals, one of them being sodium. Our heart is a “sodium pump.” There is plenty of this mineral available in celery, spinach and tomatoes. If you are looking for something to replace salt that is beneficial to the body, then you can try kelp powder. You can use it freely without any harm to the body. Kelp is a sea vegetable/seaweed that is filled with alkalizing minerals like calcium, magnesium and iron. It is even known to eliminate heavy metal toxicity from the body. Kelp tastes “salty” and you can flavor your soups, salads and other dishes with it to your liking. You can have a shaker container on your table, so anyone who wants to add more to their food, can do so liberally. Another sea vegetables that you can use as a substitute for salt, is dulse powder. If you have a health food store in your neighborhood, ask them to carry kelp and dulse powder or you can do a search online to find a company that carries it.
HEALTHY RECIPE ~ JUNE 2009
The summer is coming and it is time to eat light and simple as the weather gets warmer, we prefer to spend less time in the kitchen preparing food and more time outside with family and friends. My eating habits are very simple, so for me, it is as easy as grabbing some fruit and carrying with me. For those of you who want to make something yummy and refreshing, how about a fruit smoothie.
Some great combinations are:
1. Cantaloupe, peaches and nectarines with a couple of fresh mint sprigs
2. Watermelon, strawberries and raspberries with a squeeze of lime juice
3. Mango, apricots and a squeeze of orange juice
You can put this in a thermos or glass jar (please avoid plastics at all costs...more on that next month) and take it with you for your day at the beach, park, etc. The possibilities are endless, especially with the abundance of fruit available during this time of year.
I would like to end this post with one of my poems, again, taken from an upcoming book I will be self-publishing, entitled: “My Inspirations: Short and Sweet/Heart Notes”
“Nobody owns anything, because everything belongs to no one.” Copyright 2009
STAY TUNED! Next month I will post some very important information about the use of plastics and why they are very toxic.
See you in July,
