Joyeuse Fete du Muguet ~ Happy May Day!

May 1st is La Fête du Muguet in France and the tradition is to give the ones you love a little bouquet of lily-of-the-valley, for good luck and to celebrate the arrival of spring. Originally the idea was to take the kids into the forest and lose them pick your own muguet together. Of course, in the city you will more likely buy it from your local florist, or better yet, from one of the countless stands that sprout up overnight on every street corner and every road in France, most of them doing this as a fundraiser for one cause or another. Some years you really feel sorry for them, sitting in the cold and rain and hardly selling anything, although some years they are in luck when they are blessed with a fabulous sneak peek of summer, all bright skies and super-warm temps.

So today we celebrate all of you born the great month of May, along with enjoying a French national holiday (their Labor Day) as well as May Day.

On this fine Friday afternoon, I raise my glass to you. Happy May Day, Happy French Labor Day and Happy Birthday! Wow, that sure is a lot of "happiness".

To get your weekend off on the right foot, I am sending you each a delicate, decadent scented bouquet of muguet.

Until next time...
Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, practice gratitude for all you have and enjoy the beauty of spring!
Kelli
