Aloha!
You guessed it! I am off to O'ahu next week and I couldn't be happier! My fabulous friend Karen, who currently resides in Boston and just returned from living 4 months in Sydney, Australia invited me to join her for a few days in Hawai'i. How could I say no?!?

Karen and I have known each other since high school, she visited me at least twice in Paris and now to be able to spend my birthday with her in Hawai'i, it's the best plan ever! For those of you wondering about my hubby... don't feel bad for him. He's committed to a 4-day conference the weekend of my birthday and wouldn't have been here anyway!

The waves off the shore of Waikiki. I won't be surfing... but I do hope to swim with a sea turtle!
Growing up in Southern California, spending my summers at the beach, I absolutely love being in the water. I can't wait to dive into the warm waters of Hawai'i in just 10 short days!

How wonderful! Vacation in Oahu with girlfriends...I'm jealous! You're probably out shopping for swimsuits. As for me, I'd luv to go to the Bahamas this year, but with too many remodeling expenses, probably won't happen. I'll live vicariously through you!

Lucky you! Spring is finally starting to arrive in Paris, but you know how it is - 4 days of sun, 3 days of rain. I'm not getting my hopes up for the cold to go away yet.

WOW, how wonderful for you. I bet you will have a ball! We went to Hawaii almost 4 years ago for our son's wedding. We spent a week in Maui. It was so beautiful in April.
There's some good shopping there!
The 10 days you have to wait will pass sooooo quickly.

How fabulous to be spending your birthday with a great friend & "IN" Honolulu AND Oahu! It's been years since going to Hawaii and I can still smell the leis on the airconditioner while we slept. What a GREAT BIRTHDAY!!!

I envy you the warm weather and sandy beaches my friend! Regarding the question - spontaneous or planned? We tend to do both. We'll hit Prague and Karlovy Vary (with its great spas) few times in the coming months (as they are an easy drive away) and these will be spontaneous weekend trips. I'm currently planning our August vacation and that is always a well orchestrated endeavor!
