Guest Blog ~ Rock and Roll

Today's guest blog comes to us from Lorie, founder of Rock and Roll Coasters. When I saw her and her husband's creativity, I immediately fell in love with their idea! These coasters are fun, vibrant, "green" and a fabulous conversation starter! For all of you Rock and Roll fans out there, be sure to stop by their shop on Etsy and pick some up for your living room, music room or bar. Or better yet, give these coasters away as a gift!

Rock and Roll Coasters started over a year ago. My husband and I have been selling 45 rpm records for 8 years now and it’s a very limited market as buyers want flawless copies. We ended up throwing away hundreds of records and that was very depressing!

One day I was sitting staring at a box about to be tossed and the idea just came to me. I thought to myself, how cute would these be as drink coasters? My husband, who can do just about anything, thought it was a great idea and he was sure we could find a way to fashion them into coasters. It took a while but after trial and error we were finally pleased with the outcome!

We wanted them to be high quality so they are cork-backed and then poured into an acrylic casting resin. We cut the actual 45 down to 4 x 4 inches; they are not copies of labels. The coasters are about a ¼ inch thick and have a very high gloss with finished edges.

We've had a lot of original artists order them and that has been very exciting! Examples are, the Joni James fan club, the drummer for The Righteous Brothers, The Association, Denise and the Delicates, Lou Christie, The Amazing Rhythm Aces, the producer of Saturday Night Live, Small Faces, and The Cascades and Mercy.

They make great gifts for any occasion and they also look wonderful in bars and music rooms! They are very colorful and make a unique conversation piece. P
lease feel free to stop by our shop on Etsy anytime you like! We hope you find that special song or artist you love.

Lorie
