Carolina Herrera ~ Pick of the Week!
Carolina Herrera has always been one of my favorite designers! As a little girl I would sit and look at magazines and I remember seeing her time and time again looking effortlessly gorgeous! She has it all; beauty, radiance, grace, a wonderful family, a thriving business and an energetic passion for life!
"I love the idea of elegance and intricacy, but whether it is in a piece of clothing or a fragrance, the intricacy must appear as simplicity," says Fashion Designer Carolina Herrera of the aesthetic sense that has driven her since founding her company in 1980. "I think that standard has served me well; women seem to love my clothes. I am extremely grateful for the success that they have given me."

Spoken without a stitch of ego, the above statement reveals a great deal about Carolina Herrera. Her entirely straightforward approach toward her business, which Herrera founded years ago after being prompted by fashion legend Diana Vreeland and her great friend, the late Count Rudi Crespi, is perfectly balanced by her entirely impassioned feelings about her late parents along with her husband Reinaldo Herrera, her four daughters, Mercedes, Ana Luisa, Carolina Adriana and Patricia, the family house in Venezuela, La Vega, built in 1590, and of course, her dogs, Gaston and Floyd.

"With my clothing and fragrances," says Herrera, "I believe that it is best to be realistic, but to always mix a bit of fantasy with reality. It's the same with life, really."

I love the color palette of this collection along with its simple femininity. Her pieces are exquisitely created and an ever detail oriented eye is looking over every last stitch, tuck, ruffle, bead, and zipper. Bravo Madame Herrera, votre collection printemps/été 2009 est parfaitement fabuleuse!

I love the bright and vivid colors of her new collection. She epitomizes a rare beauty, class, and success without being conceited. The view of her own success is modest and she seems to have a second sense about the direction she is going in with her designs.
